The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is a monumental Buddhist pagoda located within the Daci’en Temple complex in southern Xi’an’s Yanta District. Originally constructed in 652 CE during the Tang dynasty to house the sutras and figurines brought from India by the monk Xuanzang, it was rebuilt in 704 CE under Empress Wu Zetian and today stands 64 m tall with seven stories . Inscribed in 2014 as part of the UNESCO “Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang’an–Tianshan Corridor,” it remains both a symbol of Xi’an’s historical role on the Silk Road and a major cultural landmark
