Students will be moved to tears. You must stay at this hotel when you visit Xiamen!

🏘️Room type/layout

After the typhoon, I went to Xiamen when there were fewer people and chose Xiamen Marriott Hotel & Conference Centre again. I will talk about the changes compared to my stay in July last year.

After booking, the lounge customer service called me the day before my arrival to ask about my needs. I booked a twin room, so I asked for a high-floor sea view room and said I would arrive early in the morning.

I arrived at Xiamen Station at 9 am the next day and asked if I could check in via the app. I received a positive response. I arrived at the hotel at 10 am. The staff who checked me in initially told me that I could only check in after 12 pm after checking my ID card. After I reminded them that their colleague had already arranged a room, they checked the computer and checked me in.

I stayed in a harbor view twin room on the 29th floor. The room faces the harbor, and you can see the Twin Towers if you turn slightly to the side.

🛌Supplies/facilities

The room bar is equipped with a capsule coffee machine and two Nescafe capsules, but the fridge is empty.

The bathroom has floor-to-ceiling glass on both sides. When I stayed on the middle floor last year, the sea view area used electric up-and-down curtains, which were not very effective. This year, the executive floor room door automatically switches to a frosted effect when closed to a certain extent, which provides better privacy. I am not sure if this is the case on all floors, but a switch would be more convenient.

The hotel has an executive lounge, which does not provide afternoon tea but offers HH service from 5 pm to 7 pm and drinks from 5 pm to 9 pm. Cookies and fruit are also available at other times. The lounge is L-shaped, and the entrance offers the same sea view and Gulangyu Island as the room. You can also see planes taking off from the interior.

The hotel restaurant is on the first floor and is shared with the Courtyard in the same building. The Marriott is on the upper floor, and the Courtyard is on the lower floor. The restaurant is spacious and offers a wide variety of dishes. Compared to last year, the quality of the dishes has improved significantly. In addition to the satay noodles, the homemade roujiamo is also delicious.

The hotel has two swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor pool is a half-infinity pool facing Xiamen Island and the Twin Towers. It was temporarily closed for maintenance after the typhoon. The indoor pool is shallow, with a maximum depth of about 1.4 meters, which is suitable for simple swimming exercises.

💰Average cost
About CNY 200 per person, very cost-effective

💗Other tips

The hotel indoor pool is open to the public. There are more children in the afternoon, so the actual available space is limited. The experience may be better in the morning or evening. Overall, there are many satisfactory aspects of this stay, but there is room for improvement in some details.
