A tranquil ancient village hidden among mountains and rivers, Henan's version of Jiangnan

Compared to the noisy crowds, I prefer this paradise-like ancient village.

Xihe Ancient Village is located in Zhouhe Township, Xinxian County, Xinyang, Henan Province, in the hinterland of the Dabie Mountains at the border of Henan and Hubei. Built along the river, surrounded by mountains and water, small paths paved with cobblestones extend along the river, and ancient trees over a thousand years old cast their shadows on the water.

Xihe Village was founded in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, with a history of over 700 years. The residential buildings are made of earth bricks and stone bricks, featuring the typical architectural style of southern Henan, full of ancient charm.

The Zhang Clan Ancestral Hall is a building from the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, with round doors, dougong brackets, red lacquered beams, blue bricks, and gray tiles. The eaves decorated with carved bricks exude an ancient elegance, making it worth a visit.
