This is another important pagoda in Yangon, about 20 kilometers from Yangon Airport. It houses the hair of the Lord Buddha. The pagoda is not large, and the path is decorated with golden murals. When you reach the center of the pagoda, you can pay homage to the hair relics kept in a glass case up close.
Outside is the deity who protects the pagoda. The Burmese call it “Nat Bo Bo Gyi” or as Thais know it, “Thep Than Jai”.
People who come here usually come to ask for blessings for their wishes, whether it be in terms of work, love, etc. When you come to Yangon, you must stop by to pay homage to the hair relics and ask for blessings from Thep Than Jai at Botahtaung Pagoda.
