Yantai is perfect for a weekend getaway🌊 This coastal town not only has an extensive coastline but also plenty of trendy spots to check in. Follow my route, and you can explore the highlights of Yantai in just two days!
DAY 1: Leisurely Coastal Tour
📍Fisherman's Wharf (Free)
The European-style buildings under the blue sky and white clouds are super photogenic. There’s also a popular rail track check-in spot by the wharf—every snap looks like an Instagram masterpiece📸
📍Yantai Hill Scenic Area (Free)
Climb the lighthouse (paid) to overlook the entire city. On a clear day, you can see Penglai Pavilion! After descending, don’t forget to stroll along Chaoyang Street at the entrance, full of artsy little shops🍃
📍First Seawater Bathing Beach (Free)
Come at sunset to walk on the beach and watch the sunset. The seaside promenade is perfect for a stroll. Remember to wear a beautiful dress for photos.
DAY 2: Artsy and Fresh Vibes
📍Yangma Island (Free)
The nickname "Little Maldives" is well deserved! Cycling around the island is super relaxing, the water is crystal clear, and the popular cave photo spot often has lines, so it’s best to come early🚴♀️
📍Muping Xiguan Night Market (opens at 6 PM)
A local late-night food haven! Highly recommend trying Yantai Menzi and sea intestine rice. You can eat your fill for about 30 RMB per person.
🚗 Transportation Tips:
- Yangma Island is best reached by car or electric scooter rental; public transport is inconvenient.
- City attractions are accessible by bus, and using the "Yantai Citizen Card" mini-program for rides offers discounts.
🍤 Must-Try Foods:
Old-brand mackerel dumplings at Sanzhan Market
Barbecue stalls on Haibian Street
Penglai noodles on Nanhong Street
💡 Practical Tips:
Bring a jacket for the big temperature difference between morning and evening.
Make sure to apply sunscreen by the sea!
During peak season, it’s recommended to book accommodation near Fisherman’s Wharf in advance.
