Encounter a whole weekend that breathes at Mingyue Mountain

In Jiangxi, there is a mountain that captivates at first sight. It is low-key but quietly amazes through the seasons in the morning mist and sunset.

This time, I reserved the entire weekend for Yichun Mingyue Mountain—to see a bamboo forest wrapped in clouds and mist, to soak in a warm, jade-like hot spring, to slow down my steps, listen to the wind, watch the mountains, and smell the tea fragrance.

📍 Arrival and Transportation

1️⃣🚅 Take the high-speed train to Yichun Station, then a taxi about 40 minutes to Mingyue Mountain Scenic Area.

2️⃣🚌 You can also depart from Yichun Bus Station, where there are direct buses/tour lines to the scenic area.

3️⃣🚗 Driving from Nanchang takes about 2.5 hours, with nice scenery along the highway.

🌲 Itinerary

Day 1｜Hot Springs and Mountain Scenery

Morning: After arrival, check in at Mingyue Mountain Metropark International Hot Spring Resort Hotel. The balcony offers views of distant mountains and clouds—every snapshot looks like wallpaper.

Afternoon: Change into a bathrobe and enter the outdoor hot spring area. Soaking in the steaming hot spring pool, surrounded by layered mountain forests, with mist and steam intertwining, it feels like entering a fairyland.

My favorite pools are the medicinal pool and the petal pool, with moderate temperatures and a faint herbal scent that relaxes the whole body.

Evening: After the hot springs, enjoy a meal of Jiangxi flavors—steamed pork, clay pot soup, fried rice noodles... A stomach nourished by mountains and waters is the happiest.

Day 2｜Hiking and Sea of Clouds

Early morning: Take the first cable car up the mountain. Standing inside the cable car overlooking the valley with swirling clouds and mist, you really want to press pause on all worries at that moment.

Easy hiking route:

✅ It’s recommended to take the cable car directly to the summit, then take the sightseeing bus to the 1420 Train Camp, where there are tents and train accommodations. If you want to stay overnight, you can choose to stay here. There is also a small train directly to Yangshimu Scenic Area.

✅ Then take the sightseeing bus directly to Moon Lake, which has beautiful scenery, clear water, and many small fish.

✅ Next, pass through Xingyue Cave to see the Qingyun Plank Road, which is 3.1 kilometers long and can only be hiked on foot, taking about an hour and a half. The essence of Mingyue Mountain is here. If you don’t want to finish it, you can return along the way.

✅ After lunch, take the cable car to the mid-section, then hike to see the waterfall. Along the way, you will pass through bamboo sea, flying waterfalls, and strange rocks, with the air filled with the moist scent of fresh grass.

Must-visit spots:

1️⃣ Yun Valley Waterfall: The roar of water and mist hitting your face.

2️⃣ Moon Lake: Crystal-clear water that refreshes the mind.

3️⃣ Bamboo Sea Plank Road: Sunlight penetrates bamboo leaves, casting dappled shadows like flowing light.

💡 Personal Tips

1️⃣ It’s best to visit the hot spring area in the evening when there are fewer people and beautiful views, and you can watch the sunset fade into night.

2️⃣ Mingyue Mountain has a big temperature difference between morning and evening, so bring a light jacket.

3️⃣ The mountain is humid, so remember to bring non-slip shoes for safer hiking.

4️⃣ To capture the sea of clouds, go up the mountain early in the morning and check the weather forecast; the best time is after rain on a clear day.

【Accommodation Recommendation】

It’s recommended to stay in Wentang Town and choose a hot spring hotel. The hot springs here contain selenium, one of the few places in the country. The Metropark International Hot Spring Resort Hotel is recommended, with both outdoor and indoor hot springs.

【Food Recommendation】

We tried two good places: one is Ganxi Mingzao right at the hotel entrance, and the other is Mingyue Family Banquet in town. Both taste great, and you can also buy selenium-rich rice.

That day, on the cable car, I looked down at a dream woven from bamboo sea and cloud sea; in the hot spring pool, I looked up at a sky full of stars.

The beauty of Mingyue Mountain is not a moment of amazement but slowly soaking your heart over a whole weekend—like its hot springs, unhurried and just right.
