Jiangxi is not only home to Lushan and Wuyuan but also the mysterious Yiyang Guifeng Scenic Area! This place boasts dual recognition as a World Natural Heritage site and a Geopark, featuring spectacular Danxia landforms and fun activities like bamboo rafting on the lake. With fewer crowds and beautiful scenery, hiking here is easy and it’s a perfect spot for photo ops. Missing out on this treasure travel destination would be a real pity! If you haven’t been yet, make sure to plan a visit during the National Day holiday.
【Itinerary】
This is a 2-day, 1-night guide:
Day 1: Arrive in the afternoon, check in at Xiaolu Xianju, then explore along the Xiake Trail, and watch the night tour performance in the evening.
Day 2: Hike the Guifeng “Xiake Trail” (about 8 km, takes 3.5 hours), enjoying beautiful sights like the Welcoming Tortoise, Century-old Path, and The Wizard of Oz along the way, then take photos at various scenic spots.
【Must-Visit Spots】
1. The Wizard of Oz: This is the entrance to the Xiake Trail, featuring magical photo spots. Wearing a light-colored long dress here can create stunning forest-themed photos.
2. Guifeng Lake: The lake’s water is emerald green like jade. Take a boat or bamboo raft ride and feel like you’re in the landscapes of Guilin.
3. Hero Slope and General’s Tower: Here you’ll find nearly vertical Danxia stairs and wide-open views overlooking the entire peak forest.
4. Jinzhong Peak: The highest point of Guifeng, offering views of Guifeng Lake and a fun rocking horse photo spot.
5. Night Tour Performance: A breathtaking show featuring intangible cultural heritage performances like iron flower forging and fire pot acts, combined with live mountain and water scenes, 3D cliff light projections, and holographic displays.
【Accommodation】
Xiaolu Xianju Guesthouse is an excellent choice. This guesthouse integrates the natural landscape into its architecture, with a modern Chinese style decorated with ancient trees and old walls, making you feel like you’re inside a painting.
