📍Indonesia Yogyakarta Water Castle Taman Sari
🏠55133 Indonesia Special Region of Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta City, Kraton, Patehan
It used to be a royal retreat.
It is said that the Sultan of Yogyakarta liked to play in the water here with his concubines, hence the name Water Castle.
The Indonesian word Taman Sari means "a beautiful garden full of blooming flowers."
The ancient Water Castle was much larger than it is now.
Due to damage from earthquakes and wars,
only a small central part remains, which can be fully seen in about 10 minutes.
Entrance requires a ticket; for non-locals, it is 25,000 Indonesian Rupiah.
This place is quite beautiful for photos.
You can only say the Sultan really knew how to enjoy life.
Visiting here can be combined with a tour of the palace.
Unfortunately, the palace was under renovation and not open on the day I visited.
