Mercure Hotel Yokosuka - Standard Corner Twin Room (Breakfast, Ocean View)

Day 1 of a 4-day Tokyo trip starts at the Mercure Hotel Yokosuka, located in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. Yokosuka is a port city about 40 minutes further by train from Yokohama.

Known as a military city due to the presence of a U.S. Navy base, I managed to secure a stay at this hotel at an affordable price, booking it early last fall. The cost, including breakfast, is in the 9,000 yen range.

The hotel is closer to Keikyu Shioiri Station than JR Yokosuka Station, so I use my Suica card to board the Keikyu line. After finishing my schedule in Yokohama past 8 PM, I check into the hotel a little after 9 PM.

Tempted by unlimited champagne, I end up drinking too much. Once in the room, I take some photos for review purposes (always a priority!) and then collapse onto the bed, sleeping for about two hours.

After a short nap, I recover my energy. The room is a standard one, but being a corner room with an ocean view, it offers a spacious layout with five windows, providing an open and airy feel.

I heard the hotel used to operate under a different name before becoming Mercure. While the building is slightly older, the high-floor rooms are spacious. Uniquely, the room features a large refrigerator with a freezer and a microwave.

I take a stroll to Yokosuka-Chuo Station, stopping by a convenience store to buy ice, ice cream, and snacks like rice balls and chicken. I heat them up and make a highball to enjoy a late-night meal.

The next morning, I wake up to a view of Yokohama's Landmark Tower in the distance. Breakfast includes local specialties like Navy Curry, a variety of fruits, and other delicious menu items.

After breakfast, I take a walk in Verny Park, located in front of the hotel. The hour-long stroll offers views of naval ships and plenty of flowers, making it a great walking route.

There's also an ocean-view Starbucks nearby, filled with Americans, giving off a vibe similar to Okinawa's American Village. English is heard everywhere. After checking out, I head to Miura City. Thank you.
