Nestled within the Yonezawa Castle Ruins (now Uesugi Shrine Park), Fukutoku Inari Shrine is a small yet spiritually significant shrine. It is said to have enshrined the Inari deity since the Edo period, serving as a guardian of the prosperity of the Yonezawa Domain and its castle town.
The red torii gates stand in striking contrast to the ancient stone walls of the castle, creating a serene and solemn atmosphere. Many locals and visitors stop by to pray for business success and family prosperity after visiting Uesugi Shrine. Compared to the bustling Uesugi Shrine, Fukutoku Inari Shrine offers a quieter, more meditative space for worship.
🚶♀️ The shrine is easily accessible, just a 10-minute bus ride from JR Yonezawa Station to the castle ruins. Once inside the park, a short walk will lead you to this hidden gem surrounded by lush greenery.
