Mt. Garandake Tsukahara Onsen Crater Spring

One of my favorite spots in Oita.
Tsukahara Onsen, where the hot spring is located, is a rare, weakly acidic hot spring known for its beneficial effects on skin conditions like atopic dermatitis. ♨️
It's a power spot on Mt. Garandake, and it's apparently even been featured on the TV show "Bura Tamori."

The steam rising from the crater is billowing!
Beppu isn't the only place with "hell"! 🥹!
And I learned for the first time that the hot springs buried beneath Mt. Garandake are the source of all eight hot springs in Beppu, and the source of all the hot springs in Beppu. 𓏗𓏗!

Also known as Mount Io,
the smell of sulfur wafts from the moment you step out of the car. 𓏗𓏗

This place was originally a mining site, where a crater was discovered,
and now it's open to the public.

The roughness of the ground and the steam rising from the crater are otherworldly...
It somehow looks like what Earth was like in the past,
and it feels like dinosaurs might pop out of nowhere. 🦖←

The eggs, slowly steamed in this crater for 20 hours, have a smoky color and an addictive flavor! A bargain at 500 yen for 6! 🥹

With your back to Crater Spring,
the town of Yufu spreads out below, and the sky is expansive—another spectacular view! 😭

I definitely recommend taking wide-angle shots here! 😭💓
