Mizhi Ancient Town

#chinatravel

We arrived at Mizhi Ancient Town in the late afternoon, just as the sunlight began to soften the edges of the old earthen buildings. There weren’t many tourists, which made it easy to slow down and take everything in. I remember walking past stone archways and crumbling facades, noticing how laundry still fluttered from windows and children played under ancient towers. It felt like a place suspended between past and present nothing polished, nothing staged. Just real lives unfolding inside a setting that’s held stories for centuries. We didn’t need a guide or a map just time, and the willingness to get a little lost.
