Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu is located in the mountains of Zermatt, Switzerland, at approximately 2,300 meters above sea level. Opening the window in the morning, I was greeted by snow-capped Alpine peaks overhead, and the air was crisp and cool, unlike the hazy city air. Another memorable feature was that this lodge, located a short distance from the city center, is off-limits to vehicles and, depending on the season, is only accessible by foot, cable car, or hiking.

🌿 Simple yet Alpine-inspired room
The room was uncluttered, but it had a strong "room in the Alps" feel. Double, triple, and quadruple rooms are available, some with private bathrooms, while others have shared bathrooms. All rooms offer views of the surrounding peaks, making them even more special.

🏞️ A starting point for hiking and mountaineering
One of the biggest draws of this accommodation is its position as a base for hiking and nature exploration. Hiking trails like Grünsee are nearby, and the accommodation offers ski-in/ski-out access in the summer and Alpine flowers and forests in the winter. Dinner near the accommodation and the snow-capped mountains from the veranda were the highlights of my trip.

1️⃣ Access – You need to take the funicular or gondola from the town of Zermatt, and vehicle access to the accommodation is often restricted. Be sure to plan your itinerary in advance.

2️⃣ Recommended Stay Period – Summer (June-October) is ideal for trekking and nature observation, and winter is also a ski resort, so check the accommodation's seasonal operation.
3️⃣ Check your packing list – Because of the high altitude, the temperature can fluctuate significantly and the weather can change quickly, so winter clothing, hiking boots, water, and snacks are essential. Also, because the accommodation is located in a remote location, it's recommended to prepare for emergencies.
