Zhaoqing Ancient City Wall

The Zhaoqing Ancient City Wall is located in Duancheng District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. It was originally built in the Northern Song Dynasty, and has a history of over 1,000 years. It is the only Song Dynasty city wall in Guangdong Province.
When visiting Zhaoqing, the Zhaoqing Ancient City Wall is a must-see attraction. The current Song Dynasty city wall is only a section of the original wall. After thousands of years of wind and rain, it has become integrated with the modern city. Walking on the city wall, you can see the bustling main street and vehicles passing by on one side, and buildings and houses on the other side, with a strong sense of life.
In addition to its defensive and security functions, the Zhaoqing Ancient City Wall also played a role in flood prevention, as it is located near Qixingyan to the north and Xijiang River to the south. Therefore, it has been repaired throughout the dynasties, and the city wall retains bricks from different periods.
Walking under the city wall, looking up, you can feel the vicissitudes of the ancient city wall. The mottled walls are decorated with red lanterns, bringing a festive atmosphere to the ancient city wall.
