This is the common sight of the Hengpaitou Scenic Area today. Former Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Wang Guangying praised it as a "Hengpai Wonderland." Hengpaitou Scenic Area is located in Sujiabu, 20 kilometers south of Lu'an City. Starting from Lu'an, the route winds along the main canal of the Pi River for 20 kilometers to Hengpaitou. This is the mother river of the people of western Anhui. Walking along it is like viewing a landscape gallery. From the air, it resembles a colorful ribbon, a string of pearls, adding a touch of spirituality and brightness to the colorful Yu'an. Even the best paintings cannot fully capture its natural beauty; only by experiencing it in person can one broaden one's mind and be captivated by the natural beauty. Located in Subu Town, a culinary ancient town known as "Little Nanjing," this scenic spot is an ideal destination for exploring Lu'an and surrounding areas.
The Hengpaitou (also known as Fengyuan Lake) Scenic Area is located at the source of the Pi River main canal, 20 kilometers south of Lu'an City, Anhui Province. Liu Bocheng once inscribed the inscription: "The Source of Harvest." In 1960, Li Xiannian visited Hengpaitou. In 1985, Li Peng inscribed: "The Dabie Mountains contributed greatly to the revolution; the development of Pi River, Shihang, and Hangzhou has benefited Lu'an." Guo Moruo also praised it in a poem: "Draining sand and separating water to make it clear and turbid, I am delighted to see the source creating an ocean."
Hengpaitou is a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area. Its key water conservancy project has revolutionized the lives of the people of western Anhui, who were often plagued by droughts and floods. Tailwater from upstream reservoirs like Fuziling, Xianghongdian, and Mozitan is intercepted here to form the 125-hectare Fengyuan Lake. The lake water flows through an intake sluice into the Pi River main canal, irrigating thousands of acres of land in Anhui and Henan, and serving as a "water tank" for the people of Lu'an and Hefei.
