Xianghongdian Reservoir (National Water Conservancy Scenic Area) is located in Jinzhai County, Lu'an City, Anhui Province, on the upper reaches of the Xiqin River and on the banks of Qiyun Mountain.

A lake of emerald green, a serene emerald mountain range, its reflections shimmering with the ripples, a lingering, ethereal blend of mountain and water, a breathtaking beauty. Boating on the lake, the fragrance of tea wafts from the tea plantations of Mount Qiyun. Rounding a mountainside and entering a bay, a thousand-acre bamboo sea unfurls in layers of green. A small hill rises from the center of the lake, resembling a young woman applying her makeup in a mirror. From here, you reach Zhangchong Pound Eye. Anyone who has been here knows the two famous waterfalls nearby: the majestic Pound Eye and the poetic Dragon Pond.

Xianghongdian Reservoir is a large reservoir on the Xirui River, a tributary of the Huaihe River. It was one of the key projects for New China to control the floods of the Huaihe River in the 1950s. Mao Zedong issued instructions on "controlling the Huaihe River" four times in one year and wrote an inscription in 1951: "We must repair the Huaihe River." It is a large-scale water conservancy and hydropower project mainly for flood control and irrigation, combined with power generation, urban water supply, shipping, aquaculture and other comprehensive utilization.
