Xiangquan, located at the foot of Fufu Mountain, 20 kilometers north of Chaohu Lake and the county seat , is named for the intense fragrance of its water. The spring overflows year-round, but is particularly fragrant in winter. In autumn and winter, steam rises, and a unique fragrance permeates the air, making it a refreshing drink and bathing experience. Hence, it's also known as " Xianglin Spring . "
The spring's water has special therapeutic properties, curing skin diseases and arthritis, hence its nickname, " Pingken Spring . " Legend has it that Xiao Tong, the Crown Prince of Liang during the Southern Dynasty, suffered from scabies and was cured by bathing in this spring's water. This is why people also call this spring " Prince Soup . "
Originally, there was Xiangshan Temple in the south of the spring, and behind the temple were Zhaoming Pavilion, Zhaoming Tower Crane, Zhaoming Academy and other buildings, but unfortunately they no longer exist. Today, there is a hospital near the spring, which fully utilizes the medicinal properties of the spring water to treat people.
The spring water is of constant temperature throughout the year and is extremely hot in winter.
