Zhu Xi's hometown is located in Fuqian Village, Wufu Town, southeast of Wuyishan City. It was first built in the 14th year of the Southern Song Dynasty. It has been rebuilt many times throughout the dynasties and was destroyed in the late Republic of China. The existing Ziyang Tower was originally Zhu Xi's former residence. It houses the half-acre square pond, the Lingquan ancient well, and the Zhuzi camphor tree, where Zhu Xi studied in his childhood .
Zhu Xi studied under a teacher in Wufu Town for over 40 years, leaving behind historical relics such as Xingxian Academy, Zhuzi Lane, and Ziyang Tower. Zhu Xi lectured and taught at Xingxian Academy. The name " Xingxian " stems from folklore, implying " promoting the virtuous and nurturing the talented " and carrying on the tradition and opening up the future. Within the academy, one can admire plaques imitating Zhu Xi's calligraphy, such as " Carrying on the Past and Opening Up the Future ," and various couplets.
