The Zhengdong New District Wetland Park is primarily designed to purify the water of Ruyi Lake, with a rated daily water treatment capacity of up to 20,000 tons. Water from Ruyi Lake is purified as it flows through the wetland park. The park, covering 40,000 square meters (60 mu), approximately one-sixth the size of Bishagang Park, is the largest urban artificial wetland project in China in terms of water treatment capacity.
Water purification at the Zhengdong New District Wetland Park utilizes waterfall aeration tanks, biological ponds, and gravel beds. These cascading aeration tanks, constructed of mortared pebbles, are located at each of the four corners of the wetland park. These cascading aeration tanks oxidize the water, removing significant amounts of metal ions.
Floating, submerged and emergent aquatic plants are planted in biological ponds and gravel beds. They mainly utilize the chemical effects of aquatic plants, the degradation effects of microorganisms around the roots of aquatic plants and the physical effects of gravel fillers to decompose pollutants and absorb nutrients.
The temperate monsoon climate has moderate temperatures. The Zhengdong New District Wetland Park is full of green trees, which form a beautiful contrast with the high-rise buildings opposite, adding some green to the city and making it suitable for all seasons.
The wetland park has built garden landscapes such as small bridges, pavilions, artificial waterfalls, and green spaces. Flowers and trees such as pomegranates, crape myrtles, and golden cypresses are planted. The 3-meter-high drop allows water to flow like a waterfall. The greenhouse uses abundant water and sunlight to cultivate a variety of plants that can only grow in the south.
It is recommended to play for about 2 hours.
