Xinyang Normal University is one of the two key undergraduate normal colleges in Henan Province. In 2007, it was rated as an excellent school in the undergraduate teaching work level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. It is the only undergraduate university in Henan Province to be awarded the title of "National Civilized Unit" three times. It was praised as the "Cradle of Teachers" by Mr. Fei Xiaotong, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, famous social activist and educator.
