
Danxia Gorge on the Yellow River is located 21 kilometers north of Mianchi, Sanmenxia City, on the banks of the Yellow River, at the junction of five counties in Henan and Shanxi provinces. The entire gorge is composed of red quartz sandstone, with a reddish-brown hue from the valley floor to the cliff walls. 1.2 billion years ago, this area was once a vast ocean, and Danxia Gorge stands as a powerful witness to this transformation. The canyon still bears the stone marks left by the erosion of the ocean waves.
The scenic area has now protectively developed more than 50 natural attractions, including natural murals, Double Dragons Playing with a Pearl, Seven-Star Stone, Monkey God Gazing at the Moon, Lion Guarding the Valley, Stone Man Mountain, Goddess Pool, One Line of Sky, Thousand-Layer Cliff, stalactites, Optimus Prime, Camel Peak, Lover's Valley, Fairy Cave, Water Curtain Cave, Official Seal Platform, Geological Book, cemetery and fissures, as well as the Eight Ponds and Eight Waterfalls consisting of Dragon and Phoenix Pond and Dragon Waterfall; as well as projects such as zip lines, high-altitude roller coasters, Yellow River fishing, the Last Song of Track Trackers, and Xiaolangdi sightseeing, leisure and entertainment.
