Introducing Nanchang Bridge

The Nanchang Bridge, located in Nanchang, a major city in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the capital of Jiangxi Province, spans Chaoyangzhou and Honggutan. As China's first dual-use pedestrian and road bridge across the Gan River, it is known as the "First Bridge Across the Thousand-Mile Gan River."

Construction of the Nanchang Bridge began on September 1, 1994, with strong support from the World Bank. The upper deck of the main bridge features six lanes for motor vehicles in both directions, with a total width of 30.35 meters. The lower deck houses non-motorized lanes and pedestrian paths. As the first modern bridge across the Ganjiang River, the Nanchang Bridge resembles a giant dragon lying across the water.

The Nanchang Bridge is located between Xihu District and Xinjian District in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province. Xinjian District is on the west bank, while Xihu District is on the east bank. It is my country's first and longest double-deck highway bridge. Spanning both sides of the Gan River, the bridge is a truly spectacular sight.

Climate and best time to travel

With a subtropical monsoon climate, Nanchang Bridge serves as a river crossing hub for Nanchang's first ring road. The bridge is equipped with a sightseeing elevator, allowing visitors to take the elevator up to the bridge for sightseeing, making it a suitable destination for travel in all seasons.

It also serves as a highway bridge connecting northern and northwestern Jiangxi regions, as well as three national highways: Beijing to Guangzhou, Fuzhou to Lanzhou, and Shanghai to Kunming.
