Diaoqiaogou Scenic Area is located in Changlingguan Village, Macheng. Get off at Muzidian Exit of G42 Expressway, turn left onto S203 Provincial Road, and go straight for 10 kilometers to Changlingguan Village.
Changlingguan Village has 776 households and 2,718 people, covering an area of 150,000 square kilometers. The village's boundary ridge is a magical "enclave" embedded in Anhui Province, adjacent to the front-line command post of Liu Deng's army. It is a true "one village spanning two provinces", and the inter-provincial boundary line (Jianghuai watershed) is more than 10 kilometers long.
The Diaoqiaogou original ecological scenic area in the village is located at the junction of "two provinces and three counties", in the hinterland of Dabie Mountains and on the Jianghuai watershed. It covers an area of nearly ten square kilometers and gathers the spiritual energy of Dabie Mountains. It has high mountains and dense forests, steep cliffs, clear water and secluded pools, dangerous villages and quiet temples, ancient trees and strange rocks, birds singing and flowers blooming, many rare animals and plants, rich precious forest specialties, beautiful natural scenery and fascinating cultural allusions.
The main attractions include: the ruins of the ancient suspension bridge ("Diaoqiaogou", named after the Taiping Army built a suspension bridge to capture Tangwangzhai on the top of the mountain), Guanyin Rock (legend has it that this is the place where Guanyin practiced), Zhang Guolao's Infatuation Stone (Peach Stone, Auspicious Cloud Stone), Mayiguan Ancient Temple, waterfalls and springs, rooster fossils, grain-drying stones, Monkey King Cave (Zhang Tixue's "recuperation place"), cliff steps (ladder to heaven), the ancient "Chuyuantang" temple from the Jiaqing period of the Ming Dynasty (completely made of stone, well preserved, and still very popular today), the ancient mountain stronghold Tangwangzhai (located at the intersection of two provinces and three counties, with four city gates and stone city walls still existing), as well as the relics of Jigong, Jigong's hat stone, elephant trunk stone, the cradle stone where Jigong slept drunk, tiger's jaw and other ruins.
The Diaoqiaogou Scenic Area has a temperate monsoon climate. In spring, peaches and plums compete for beauty, and rhododendrons and wisterias are in full bloom. In summer, dense shade blocks out the sun, and waterfalls cascade. In autumn, the mountains are covered with red leaves and various wild fruits are fragrant. In winter, the mountains are covered with white camellias that defy frost and snow. It is an ideal place for people to relax outdoors, take photos, and hike, and is suitable for travel in all seasons.
