Sheraton Maui Resort OR Napili Kai
Celebrating our 30th anniversary in Maui and Kauai. trying to decide between the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa OR Napili Kai. We have been to Maui several times before and love it as well as Kauai. Usually stay in Wailea but wanted to try something a little different. Only staying 3 nights any suggestions? Basically just want to stay by the pool and beach just spend quality time.
thank you!!!
Congratulations on your 30th anniversary! Both the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and Napili Kai Beach Resort offer beautiful settings for a short, relaxing stay, but they cater to slightly different experiences. Here’s a detailed comparison to help with your decision.
Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa
- Located at Ka’anapali Beach, right at Black Rock, famous for cliff diving and snorkeling.
- Offers multiple pools, including an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, plus a separate children’s pool and hot tubs.
- Resort-style atmosphere with on-site restaurants, bars, and amenities; easy access to Ka’anapali shopping and nightlife if desired.
- Great for snorkeling right off the beach at Black Rock; marine life is abundant.
- Higher energy vibe — more guests, more activity, perfect if you enjoy some bustle along with relaxation.
Napili Kai Beach Resort
- Located in a quieter, more laid-back area of Napili Bay, away from the main Ka’anapali strip.
- Small, intimate pools and direct beach access; excellent for relaxing and spending uninterrupted time together.
- Fewer on-site restaurants — mostly cottage-style units with kitchens, so you can prepare your own meals or explore local eateries nearby.
- Calmer beach with gentle waves, great for swimming and easy snorkeling right from the sand.
- More privacy and a slower pace, ideal if your goal is pure relaxation and couple time.
Recommendations
- If you want a resort with amenities, pools, and a bit of action while still enjoying the beach, go with the Sheraton Maui.
- If your priority is tranquility, direct beach access, and a slower, more intimate vibe for your anniversary, Napili Kai is the better choice.
- Since your stay is only 3 nights and you want to focus on quality pool and beach time, Napili Kai may allow you to unwind more fully without the distractions of a larger resort.
Both resorts provide excellent opportunities for snorkeling, swimming, and sunset views. It ultimately comes down to whether you prefer a bustling resort environment with more amenities (Sheraton) or a quiet, intimate beach escape (Napili Kai). For a short, romantic stay celebrating an anniversary, Napili Kai often wins for its peaceful, relaxing atmosphere and direct beach access.
