Vacation Base

Hi, thinking about coming over next year for the soccer World Cup in June/July. We would look to do a few games hopefully

Where would be a good vacation base to rent a villa in the state. Looking for a town/small city with an area for shopping/bars/restaurants.

Would be good to be not too far from a beach but the other amenities are the priority

Any location ideas welcomed thanks

If you're planning to visit Georgia for the soccer World Cup next year and looking for a good vacation base to rent a villa, you might want to focus on towns or small cities that offer a blend of shopping, dining, and nightlife while also being relatively close to the beach. While Georgia is not primarily known for its beach resorts like some other states, it has several vibrant towns and cities that offer the amenities you’re looking for. Below are a few options that might suit your needs:

  • Savannah – A charming historic city with a thriving arts scene, vibrant bars and restaurants, and plenty of shopping. It’s about a 30-minute drive to Tybee Island, which has a nice beach if you want to spend some time by the water.
  • Brunswick – Located on the coast, it’s home to a historic downtown area with shopping and restaurants. It’s also close to the beautiful Golden Isles, which include St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and Sea Island. These islands offer a mix of beach activities and upscale amenities.
  • Atlanta – Although not near the beach, Atlanta has everything you need in terms of amenities—shopping, dining, and vibrant nightlife. It’s also a major hub for the World Cup, and you can easily travel to the coast for a beach day if desired. The city offers plenty of vacation rental options in trendy neighborhoods like Midtown, Buckhead, or Virginia Highland.

All of these locations provide a good balance of urban amenities with easy access to the coast, so you can enjoy the beach and other activities without sacrificing comfort and convenience.
