Arriving soon-HBR questions
Hi,
Does anyone know if hot tub is working again?
Also, I read possible wifi/tv out in some buildings.
Anyone there now or an owner that give info on these?
Good questions — yes, there is a fair amount of recent guest feedback about (HBR) that suggests some ongoing issues with the hot tub and with Wi-Fi/TV connectivity. I can’t guarantee what you’ll see during your stay (they seem to vary), but here’s what recent reviews and guest-forum posts say — and what to check/ask before you arrive.
- Hot tub status: not reliably working
Multiple recent posts from people who stayed at HBR say the shared hot tub near the lagoon pool was “closed for our entire stay.” For example one guest wrote: “Unfortunately the hot tub was closed the entirety of our stay.”
Another wrote that although the pool was functioning, the hot tub “is hot but not bubbling.” So while HBR officially lists a communal hot tub, it seems maintenance or operating-status problems have affected its availability for some guests.
- Wi-Fi / TV: intermittent at best
There are longstanding reports about weak or spotty Wi-Fi at HBR — even though the resort claims to have resort-wide wireless. Guests over the years have noted “slow signal,” needing to reconnect frequently, or very poor throughput (which is insufficient for streaming).
More recent rentals (on third-party sites) mention “the TV and WiFi didn’t work,” with poorly maintained router setups. That means you should go in with the expectation that you may not get reliable high-speed internet or streaming. Good for basic email or web, but maybe not for heavy use.
- Mixed reviews overall — some units work, others don’t
As with many large timeshare/condo-style resorts, what you get may depend heavily on the unit. Some past guests said their condo felt “dated,” with carpet and older finishes — but the view, kitchen, and air-conditioning worked fine. Others reported dealing with cleanliness issues, or amenities not functioning. This patchwork pattern means it’s especially important to confirm what working amenities your specific unit has before relying on them.
What you should do before or during booking / check-in:
- Ask the rental manager or host explicitly: “Is the communal hot tub operational on my dates?” Get a yes/no and — if yes — when maintenance was last done. If they can’t guarantee it, have a backup plan.
- Upon check-in, test the hot tub and Wi-Fi/TV right away (if you care about them). If they’re not working, ask if there’s another unit or if there’s a refund/discount policy.
- Expect that hot tub access is shared and could be crowded or limited — even if working. HBR is a condo-style resort, not a hotel resort.
- Be ready for inconsistent Wi-Fi/streaming speeds; treat the stay like a vacation — maybe plan to disconnect a bit :)
My take: if a functioning hot tub and reliable Wi-Fi are important to you — don’t count them as guaranteed at HBR. Use them as “nice to have,” and plan around them rather than for them. That said, many people still enjoy HBR for its location, view, and overall setting — but you should have modest expectations for amenities, and check carefully on availability before committing.
