Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace are the most iconic and must-visit attractions in Bangkok, representing Thailand's religious and political centers respectively. Wat Phra Kaew is a sacred Buddhist site housing Thailand’s national treasure—the Emerald Buddha, while the Grand Palace symbolizes the Thai monarchy. Although no royal family members currently reside there, it remains an important venue for royal ceremonies and hosting foreign dignitaries. These two sites hold great sanctity for Thai people, so visitors must follow certain rules during their visit.
Introduction to Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace:
Wat Phra Kaew was built in 1782 by King Rama I to enshrine the national treasure, the Emerald Buddha. The Emerald Buddha was brought to the temple by King Rama I and is considered Thailand’s national guardian. Although the Grand Palace no longer houses royal family members, it remains a significant national symbol and serves as the site for royal ceremonies.
The entrance fee is 500 THB per person. Although the price is somewhat high, considering the maintenance and preservation of these historical and cultural heritages, it is still worth a visit.
Attractions:
• Golden Chedi: The magnificent golden stupa is a major feature of the Grand Palace, shining brilliantly and very spectacular.
