[Bangkok, Thailand] Must-see: the fantastic ceiling paintings and the Emerald Pagoda at Wat Paknam

Wat Paknam, featuring an emerald chedi and a gigantic 69-meter-tall Buddha statue.

While this temple has become popular with tourists in recent years, it is originally a historic royal temple built during the Ayutthaya Dynasty.

I walked from Bang Pai MRT Station, which is about a 10-minute walk from the station.

The first thing that catches your eye is the gigantic golden Buddha statue, measuring 69 meters high and 40 meters wide. It is the world's largest Buddha statue in a meditative pose, and its sheer scale is truly impressive.

Also, when it comes to Wat Paknam, the emerald-colored chedi is located on the fifth floor of the five-story white chedi.

After removing your shoes and ascending the stairs inside the white chedi to the fifth floor, you'll be greeted by the mystical emerald-colored chedi and the painting of the Buddha's life on the ceiling.

The gleaming emerald-colored chedi, made from stacked glass, and the surrounding glass lotus flowers are breathtakingly beautiful.
The ceiling of the stupa is decorated with a Bodhi tree, a biography of the Buddha, and stars from the universe, creating a mystical atmosphere. Together with the emerald stupa, this creates a mystical atmosphere.

Admission is free, and compared to the three major temples, there are fewer tourists, so you can enjoy the view at your own pace.
