Visit.. Wat Phra Kaew, Chiang Rai

📍.. Wat Phra Kaew, Chiang Rai is a royal temple located on Trairat Road, Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province.

📖.. Wat Phra Kaew was originally named Wat Pa Yia (Bamboo Forest). In 1977, lightning struck an abandoned pagoda, and a gold-lacquered Buddha image was found inside. Later, the lacquer peeled off, and it was discovered that it was a green jade Buddha image, which is the Emerald Buddha.

..After that, the Emerald Buddha was invited to be enshrined in various cities, from Lampang, Chiang Mai, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Thonburi, and Bangkok.

📖.. Inside the ordination hall, which was built in the Chiang Saen architectural style, it is low and has a low sloping roof. There is Phra Chao Lan Thong, a bronze Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude.

📅.. Wat Phra Kaew is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
