Early in the morning, I took tram 15E heading to the Belém district. At the end of streets with a different vibe from Lisbon's city center, the Jerónimos Monastery stood tall. Standing before the intricately carved Manueline-style building, I immediately felt that its title as a UNESCO World Heritage Site was well-deserved.
Inside the monastery, the atmosphere was quiet and solemn. Within the blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, I could feel the glory of Portugal during the Age of Discovery.
After touring the monastery, I took a train from Cais do Sodré to Cascais. Upon arriving at the train station, I switched to bus 403 and rode for quite a while until I finally reached **Cabo da Roca**.
The Atlantic Ocean stretched out before me, with an endless horizon and waves crashing against the cliffs below. The famous phrase "Here, the land ends and the sea begins" instantly made sense as the perfect representation of this place.
Standing at the westernmost point of Europe, where the wind meets the sea, was an unforgettable feeling. Starting the day in the city and ending it at the edge of the continent made for a memorable chapter in my travels.
