Dean Village
Highlights: Tucked away just a short walk from the city centre, we found ourselves in the storybook charm of Dean Village. Cobblestone paths, ivy-covered buildings, and the gentle flow of the Water of Leith made it feel like we’d stepped into another time. Quiet and picturesque a perfect pause from the city bustle.
Surgeons’ Hall Museums
Highlights: We weren’t sure what to expect, but this place was fascinating. The Surgeons’ Hall Museums took us through the strange, brilliant, and sometimes eerie history of medicine. It’s not for the squeamish, but we left with a real appreciation for how far science has come.
Dr Neil’s Garden
Highlights: We stumbled across Dr Neil’s Garden by Duddingston Loch, and it quickly became one of our favorite hidden spots. Tucked behind a historic church and framed by Arthur’s Seat, this peaceful garden was full of flowers, winding paths, and unexpected views.
The Scottish Poetry Library
Highlights: This quiet haven near the Royal Mile was a real surprise. We browsed poems, discovered local voices, and even took a moment to write our own lines. For anyone who loves words, it’s a little-known gem full of calm and inspiration.
