Hidden piece of heaven in Yangshuo, China

Auruá Sugar Mill Hotel (formerly named Alila) is located on the Li River in the mountains of Yangshuo China. Visiting here is like being transported to a different world. This is an old sugar mill that was built in 1960 and recently converted into a luxury resort in 2017.

Overall:
- My stay at this hotel comes with high praises and a 10/10 recommendation.

Getting There:
- Fly into the Guilin International Airport. From there, it is about a 1.5 hour drive to the hotel. We hired a private driver for our trip and made our way there while visiting a few other sights along the way. You could also book a taxi or DiDi here from the airport.

Highlights:

- THE POOL is INCREDIBLE. It was built into the original loading dock of the sugar mill.
- THE BAR was built into the original pressing room and has the ultimate high end ambiance while keeping the original features of the room as a foundation
- THE RESTAURANT had a large variety of multiple options including unique dishes that were built upon flavors famous to the Yangshuo area.
- THE SERVICE was really what made the trip. Although the grounds themselves were incredible, our time was ten times better because of the wonderful staff who worked her. On our first night we were approached by Michael, The Director Of Operations, who became a good friend instantly. His energy was so warm and he gave us a tour of part of the grounds and gave us recommendations for the events happening that weekend as well as his favorite places at the resort. We also made friends with our chef, Jack, who was amazing and served us dinner and breakfast. He was so kind and let us try some unique options from the menu.
