Chasing Legends: A Rain-Soaked Pilgrimage to Leifeng Pagoda

#discoverchina #hangzhou
On a gloomy spring day, we made our journey to Leifeng Pagoda, drawn by the timeless love story of Xu Xian and the White Snake.Inside the tower, the dim light cast an almost mystical glow over the intricate stone carvings, each panel vivid with scenes from the legend: their fateful meeting on Broken Bridge, the daring theft of the immortal herb, and the catastrophic flood of Jinshan Temple. Tracing our fingers over the cool reliefs, we could almost feel the weight of their tragic tale—the moment Bai Suzhen was imprisoned beneath the pagoda,Xu Xian’s despair frozen in stone, more haunting than the misty sky outside. Through the tower windows, West Lake lay shrouded in drizzle, as if the myth’s sorrow still lingered in the air. As we left, a light rain began to fall—a poetic echo of the story’s melancholy, though our umbrellas could never truly bridge the gap between legend and reality.
