A journey to cleanse your soul at Itsukushima Shrine, a mysterious shrine floating on the sea

#AbsolutelyFreeTrip

Itsukushima Shrine, located on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture, is a World Heritage Site with its vermilion shrine building built to appear as if floating on the sea. The large torii gate, which changes shape with the tides, is a breathtaking sight no matter how many times you see it. 🌊✨
When you visit, the shrine building, seen in the quiet morning sun, is mystical, and you'll feel as if you've been transported to another world. At low tide, you can walk right up to the torii gate, and at high tide, you can enjoy its mystical appearance floating on the water. If you want to see both, we recommend staying at least half a day.
The shrine grounds are beautifully built using the Shinden-zukuri style of architecture, and there are plenty of attractions in the surrounding area, including the five-story pagoda and Daisho-in Temple. The sight of the leisurely deer strolling around was also soothing. 🦌
To access, walk to the ferry terminal from JR Miyajimaguchi Station or Hiroden Miyajimaguchi Station on the Hiroshima Electric Railway. It's about a 10-minute ferry ride and a 15-minute walk from Miyajima Pier.[1]
If you're looking for a spiritually refreshing experience, Itsukushima Shrine is a must-see spot. Whether you're traveling alone or with a special someone, it's sure to be an unforgettable trip.
