#chinatravel Finally checked out the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan Province, and this place is seriously cool. It’s basically a whole cliffside filled with thousands of carved Buddhas, big and small, just chilling by the river. Super peaceful, super photogenic, and way more epic than I expected.
Walking along the river, you’re surrounded by ancient carvings that go back like 1,500 years. Some are tiny, some are massive, like, one is the size of a house. And the detail? Still crazy sharp after all these centuries. It’s like walking through a giant open-air museum, but without the glass cases and rules.
The vibe is calm and kinda meditative. Birds chirping, breeze off the river, and lots of quiet corners to just sit and take it all in. The caves on the other side give great views too.
If you’re ever in Henan, Longmen’s 100% worth a stop. History, nature, and those iconic giant Buddhas, what more do you need?
