#Greater Bay Area must-visit check-in spots
Friends who have watched the movie "Good Will Hunting" should be familiar with this building. This time I came to Fanling to check out this historical building in Hong Kong: the former Fanling Magistrates' Courts.
As the main building of the Fanling Magistrates' Courts, it is now the Hong Kong Youth Association Leadership College. The building was built in 1961 with a construction area of approximately 3,000 square meters. It is a Grade 3 historical building in Hong Kong and the first municipal building in the New Territories. It is also a witness to the development of Hong Kong's judicial system. The building represents two core values: dignity and integrity. The renovated and restored Leadership Academy also reflects these values.
The former Court No. 1 has now been converted into a digital conference hall, equipped with electronic voting and simultaneous interpretation systems, for young people to discuss policies, debate and practice public speaking; Court No. 2 retains its original appearance, such as the magistrate's seat, prisoners' dock, public gallery, press gallery, etc., and can be used for mock court training. Three of the four detention cells were converted into multi-purpose activity rooms, while the remaining one remained in its original state.
In addition, the building has been installed with new cutting-edge technology equipment, making it a unique legal, historical and cultural landmark in the North District of Hong Kong. It is open to tourists for free and is worth a visit.
Detailed address: 302 Jockey Club Road, Fanling, New Territories, Hong Kong (about 10 minutes walk from Fanling MTR Station)
Ticket price: Free admission
