Hong Kong's Hidden Border Specialty Town

Address – Sha Tau Kok, New Territories, Hong Kong
Environment/Facilities – Old-style buildings can be seen everywhere
Feature – A rare restricted area in Hong Kong
Average Price – Free
Rating – 8.5/10
Sha Tau Kok is located on the border between the North District of the New Territories and Yantian District of Shenzhen. It spans both areas and was once a bustling village. When the New Territories were officially leased to the UK in 1898, the Sha Tau Kok River was used as the boundary, designating it as a Hong Kong border restricted area. Today, Sha Tau Kok has developed into a small town. To enter for sightseeing, you need to apply for a temporary restricted area permit from the government. Due to its unique geographical location, it has formed the current scene, and there is also a market where you can try some special local snacks. It is definitely worth a visit.
