One of 6 temples around the Nakhon Ratchasima City Wall
🎈At Wat Sa Kaeo
🎈Location: Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province

🎈Wat Sa Kaeo, Korat: This temple was built during the reign of King Narai the Great around 1677, coinciding with the founding of Nakhon Ratchasima. It is one of the six temples built along the city walls. Wat Sa Kaeo's name comes from a pond alongside the city walls of Korat. This important pond, dug in accordance with the city's founding tradition, was used in important ceremonies, including the Water of the Oath of Allegiance ceremony and the Murtha Abhisek ceremony. The principal Buddha image inside the ordination hall of Wat Sa Kaeo is a Sukhothai-style Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture. And the shrine houses Luang Pho Tikkhawirothikkhu, or Phra Tikkha, an ancient Buddha image in the eye-giving pose, brought from Ayutthaya.
