Hong Kong Airport's Most Relaxing Lounge: The Pier

I’ve long heard that Cathay Pacific’s self-operated lounges in Hong Kong are considered the pinnacle of airport lounges in Greater China. So, I made an early morning trip from Shenzhen to experience it in depth. With Sapphire status, I could only access the business class lounges, and the first one I visited was The Pier Business Lounge, located just past security. This lounge features a terrace-style design with excellent natural lighting and a great view of the tarmac below.

The shower rooms are exceptionally clean, even cleaner than those at LAX’s AA and QF lounges. The hallway outside the lounge is adorned with posters celebrating Cathay Pacific’s 60th anniversary, exuding a nostalgic Hong Kong vibe. I hope Cathay Pacific continues to maintain its sole U.S. lounge, The Bridge, and doesn’t force us all to use British Airways’ lounge instead.

As for the food, there’s a mix of Western and Asian options, including a buffet area and a made-to-order noodle bar with a wide variety of choices. They even offer unlimited Häagen-Dazs ice cream on demand. However, my favorite was the Cathay Delight. Sipping a Cathay Delight by the window while watching planes take off and land was pure bliss.
