At the junction of Queen's Road East and Wanchai Pass Road in Wanchai, there is a building full of stories - the old Wanchai Post Office, now the Know "Carbon" Pavilion. This 🏗 was built between 1912 and 1913
🏡 Officially opened as Wanchai Post Office in 1915, it is the oldest existing post office building in Hong Kong. In the past, people came and went here, and letters were sent from here to all directions, carrying people’s thoughts and messages.
⏳️In 1992, it completed its mission as a post office.
⌛️In 1993, it was transformed into the Wanchai Environmental Resource Centre;
🗺In 2024, after renovation, it was renamed the Knowledge "Carbon" Pavilion, rejuvenating with new vitality.
When you walk in now, you can still see traces of the former post office, as well as many displays and interactive experiences related to carbon neutrality. There is a "Big Waste Ghost" in the museum, which teaches people how to practice low-carbon living in an interesting way. ♻️ Interactive games to intuitively feel the impact of different lifestyles on carbon emissions; 🎨 Environmental workshops to make handicrafts from waste;
If you want to learn about the history of Hong Kong and learn about environmental protection, you might as well make an appointment on the official website to check in at the Knowledge "Carbon" Pavilion and feel the new charm of the old post office!
