Sha Tau Kok: Possibly the place with the most Leisure and Cultural Services Department mascots for photo opportunities

Located in the North District of Hong Kong, Sha Tau Kok is a border area adjacent to Shenzhen. For many years, only local residents or those working in the area could enter with a restricted area permit. However, in recent years, the government has relaxed restrictions to attract tourism, allowing Hong Kong residents to apply for individual visits through the Hong Kong Police Force website. There are approximately a few hundred spots available daily.

One lesser-mentioned feature of Sha Tau Kok is the abundance of Leisure and Cultural Services Department mascots, including "Vibrant Kid" and "Smart Cat." These mascots are displayed in various fun and sporty poses, many of which are unique and not seen elsewhere, making them perfect for photo opportunities.

Additionally, Sha Tau Kok has a small library. Perhaps due to the limited number of visitors allowed into the area, the library is not very crowded. On the Saturday afternoon I visited, there were even fewer readers than staff members. For those who are tired and looking for a quiet place to browse and read books, this library offers a very comfortable environment.
