A guide to easily checking in at the restricted area waterfront

Address: Sha Tau Kok, North District, New Territories
Environment/Facilities: Fishing Village Style
Note: Restricted Area Permits must be pre-approved online
Price Permit: Free
Rating: 8.5/10
Over a century ago, when the New Territories were leased to Britain, the Sha Tau Kok River was used as the boundary for the Hong Kong Frontier Restricted Area. The section at the end of the river became Chung Ying Street. Later, the portion of Sha Tau Kok within Hong Kong was designated as a restricted area, making it difficult for residents outside Sha Tau Kok to easily enter, hindering its return to its former prosperity. Access to Sha Tau Kok is now much more convenient; simply present a valid restricted area permit. The inner ring of the area retains a few buildings from decades ago, creating unique features. For example, several new photo booths and exhibition halls have been added, and the surrounding area has been significantly beautified. You can also take a kayak tour to other islands.
