📍Address: Sha Tau Kok, North District, New Territories
🏖️Environment/Facilities: Quiet and beautiful environment
💰Average Cost: Free
💞Recommended Reason: Quite unique
In fact, areas such as Wu Kau Tang, Kuk Po, So Lo Pun, Lai Chi Wo, and the islands around Yan Chau Tong, with Kat O being the most prominent, are all part of Sha Tau Kok. The part within Hong Kong has been developed into a small town and is currently still a restricted border area. However, you can freely visit Sha Tau Kok, which has the longest pier in Hong Kong, by applying for a restricted area permit online in advance. Currently, it can only be reached by public transportation. The unique Housing Society public housing, well-equipped community facilities, friendly and enthusiastic villagers, and old Cantonese-style verandah houses give a sense of time travel. The mysterious restricted area is definitely worth visiting to experience and taste local snacks. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, the visit might feel a bit rushed.
