Smangus (God's Tribe)

Smangus, known as "God's Tribe," is located deep in the mountains of Jianshi Township and is one of Taiwan's most remote and mysterious villages. This area boasts a spectacular cherry blossom forest, where every spring, the mountain cherry blossoms and Formosan cherry trees blanket the entire valley. Combined with the refreshing high-altitude climate and pristine forest landscape, the flower-viewing experience here is truly breathtaking. The village is predominantly inhabited by the Atayal people, who are dedicated to preserving their traditional culture and natural ecology. Visitors can not only enjoy the blossoms but also immerse themselves in the rich tribal lifestyle. Most of the cherry blossoms in Smangus are concentrated along the hiking trail leading to the sacred trees. Along the way, you can marvel at the stunning sight of entire mountain slopes painted in red and capture iconic scenes of wooden suspension bridges intertwined with cherry blossoms. Due to transportation restrictions, daily visitor numbers are limited, and advance applications for entry permits and accommodations are required. Early planning is highly recommended. This destination is especially ideal for nature lovers, hikers, photographers, and those seeking cultural experiences, offering a cherry blossom journey that is both emotionally moving and visually stunning.
