On the road: Huai'an Government Office - one of the only two remaining government offices

After leaving the museum, continue heading north and cross the road to reach the Huai'an Government Office, which is all on a central axis. Huai'an Fucheng is located on the bank of the canal. The west and north of the old city are both water-rich areas. Only the north-south line in the central part of the city has higher terrain. The government offices are located in the northern part of the central part of the city.

[Shrine] Entering the gate is a large courtyard, in the center is the stone archway of "Gongshengming". The wing rooms on both sides are the six departments, and the responsibilities and related cultural relics of the six departments are introduced inside. The lobby of the government office is the largest in the country, with an area of more than 500 square meters.

[BaseballCap] I have visited several yamen, all of which are county yamen. Pingyao is considered a high-level one and the area is relatively large, but I didn’t expect this government office to be so big. The government office has a back garden, and the pavilion on the rockery is unique in style.

[Shrine] A major feature of the Huai'an government office is the ancient criminal law exhibition, which displays a large number of criminal laws and torture instruments in detail, especially the scene display, which is shocking. There is a beheading platform in the courtyard. It is said that in the twelfth year of Yongzheng's reign, Yu Hongtu, a scholar in Henan Province, was the last government official to be beheaded. After that, he was abolished by Yongzheng because he was too cruel.
