[Shimane🇯🇵] Experience history at Izumo Taisha Shrine

Speaking of matchmaking, Izumo Taisha Shrine has quite an interesting history and is one of my favorites.

The current main hall is 24 meters high, but it was apparently about four times that height, at 96 meters, a long time ago.

It was also said to have been 48 meters high during the Heian period, and a huge pillar was discovered in 2000.

I was amazed that they had the technology to build such a tall structure so long ago!

The way to worship is also different from that of ordinary shrines, with two bows, four claps, and a bow at the end.

The Kagura Hall, seen in the top image, is home to one of the largest shimenawa ropes in Japan.
It was bigger than I expected when I got close, and I was overwhelmed.

Please come and experience the history of Izumo Taisha Shrine.
