[Kanagawa/Kamakura] Recommended sightseeing spots

Here is a model itinerary for enjoying sightseeing around Kamakura and Enoshima.
Starting from Kita-Kamakura, this plan allows you to appreciate the charm of the ancient capital while also enjoying the beauty of the sea at Enoshima.

[Morning] Kita-Kamakura Area
1. Engakuji Temple
- Visit a historic Zen temple in a quiet and calm atmosphere.
- Duration: Approximately 1 hour
- Access: 1 minute on foot from JR Kita-Kamakura Station
2. Meigetsu-in Temple (Hydrangea Temple)
- About a 10 minute walk from Engakuji Temple. It is famous for its hydrangeas in June, but you can enjoy beautiful gardens in every season.
- Duration: Approximately 45 minutes
3. Kenchoji Temple
- 15 minutes on foot from Meigetsu-in Temple. A large temple ranked first among the Five Mountains of Kamakura, the magnificent temple buildings are a highlight.
- Time required: about 1 hour

[Lunch] Komachi-dori and around Kamakura Station
Move from Kita-Kamakura to Kamakura Station (about 5 minutes by JR). Komachi-dori is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants selling Kamakura specialties. There are also many Japanese restaurants using local ingredients and popular cafes.

★Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine - 5 minutes walk from the end of Komachi-dori
The impressive Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine! The approach to the shrine is also impressive, so try walking along it as well as Komachi-dori!
★Hokoku-ji Temple - 25 minutes walk or 10 minutes by bus from Kamakura Station
If you want to take a leisurely stroll through the bamboo forest, we recommend Hokoku-ji Temple!

[Afternoon] Kamakura Great Buddha and Hase area
4. Kotoku-in Temple (Kamakura Great Buddha)
- Take the Enoden from Komachi-dori to Hase Station (about 10 minutes). Visit the Great Buddha, the symbol of Kamakura.
- Duration: about 30 minutes
5. Hasedera Temple
- 10 minutes walk from the Great Buddha of Kamakura. A spectacular spot overlooking the sea and a beautiful garden are attractive.
- Duration: about 1 hour
[Evening] Enoshima Area
6. Enoshima
- Take the Enoshima Electric Railway from Hase Station to Enoshima Station (about 20 minutes). You can enjoy Enoshima's Sea Candle (observation lighthouse) and cave exploration.
- We also recommend strolling around the island and enjoying seafood for dinner.
- Duration: about 2 to 3 hours
