Located in the Qiaotou District of Kaohsiung is a 122-year-old sugar factory - Kaohsiung Sugar Factory (formerly known as Qiaozitou Sugar Factory), its first modern mechanical sugar factory in Taiwan, is now listed as a municipal cultural landscape.

The whole sugar factory area is very large, with sugar factories, Japanese wooden houses, air-raid shelters, red brick water towers and other antiquities of the past well preserved. The Kaohsiung City Government also organizes arts and cultural activities in the sugar factory from time to time.
