Located about a 10-minute walk from Suirokaku, this spot is also very popular.
It is the world's longest railway ruins, with a total length of 582m, and is the site of an inclined railway that was laid to operate ships on the steep slope of the Lake Biwa Canal, with an elevation difference of about 36m.
It operated from 1891 and ceased its role in 1948, and the abandoned railway line is now designated as a cultural property of Kyoto City.
There are cherry trees on both sides, and when they are in full bloom, it is said that you can see a very beautiful view.
