Ginkakuji Temple

Another name that is widely known is
"Kyoto's Silver Pavilion".

It is a Zen temple built by Shogun
Ashikaga Yoshimasa
which is considered a historical landmark
of Kyoto

and registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1994 by UNESCO
. The name called Silver Pavilion
rhymes with the Golden Pavilion or what we also know as
"Kinkakuji Temple".
The reason for the name is probably because the Golden Pavilion
is the prototype for the construction of this temple.
